Default Rewatching Mosley vs Margarito on HBO

HBO2 is showing Mosley vs Margarito again and I notice something I didn't notice when i first watched it. Mosley is holding a lot in this fight and tried to fight a slow pace Its entering the 6th round now but I'm noticing Mosley held a lot and then would fire combination's and go back to holding. I don't see him doing this vs Mayweather but he is fighting at a much slower pace them im used to him seeing and fighting at. If Mosley tries to fight at that kind of pace against Mayweather he won't do himself any favors. Anyway just thought i'd point that out. Around the 6th round I remember Mosley coming on late, but he can't afford to start the fight that slow against Mayweather or it could come back to bite him like it bit hagler for starting slow against leonard. Of course I don't expect Floyd to only fight the last 30 seconds. But if this fight goes to decision, which I can easily see, a slow start won't help Mosley at all

Well it made perfect sense against margarito, throw your fast combos and then hold so marg can't really come back with much...I don't think he'll fight anything like that against mayweather because as you said it wouldn't make any sense at all...

You have to wonder if at 38/39 Mosley still has the legs to fight 12 hard rounds. He does seem to engage in the clinch more in recent fights. I was watching the Cotto fight earlier and though it was Mosley coming on down the stretch, he sure did look somewhat gassed throughout a lot of the fight. That was a very close fight IMO.

I agree, he must bank rounds in the first half of the fight otherwise he will be in trouble.

I just watched Mosley/Margarito again and it was a nice performance from Mosley. He was very measured and calm, could probably have gone 15 if he wanted to. No, I don't have any worries about him going 12 rounds hard. The Cotto fight was a strange one.

Holding mayweather would be effective because shane's stronger and will bully him...Castillo did it to perfection in the first fight.
