It's on my list of things to do. Right next to Arrested Development.

I wish I could watch The Wire and Arrested Development again for the first time. 2 of the top 5 TV shows of all time.

    I feel your pain brother.

I've just finished my second viewing of The Wire. It is still awesome but I envy people who are watching it for the first time, I gotta be honest.

I agree clearly putting The Wire up against Auf Wiedersehen Pet is a disgrace.

I just finished the last episode of the last season of The Wire. I am a huge Sopranos fan and halfway through the first season I knew this was better. Every character, if he lives long enough, has such a rich development. Every good guy has dirt on him, (almost) every bad guy has some redeeming quality. The only one I can think of who didn't was Marlo. He was just a jerk through and through. Maybe Cheese too, but even he had a soft spot for his dog. I thought Chris was good for nothing but being a stone-faced killer, but he was just so GOOD at it. The way he looked at people, it was like a shark was watching them. I never want to be looked at by someone like that.

But by far my favorite was Omar. A gay stick-up man who's only as ruthless as he needs to be who comes equipped with a set of rules. The only one I didn't really like was Brother Mouzon. He was too... comic book-like.

Chris Partlow is, without doubt, the most fearsome character in tv history. Cold, simply cold!

Agree about Brother Mouzone - didn't find him believable at all. The whole Nation of Islam side to him really didn't wash with me. Have you seen 'The Corner' or read the book? Both by David Simon. Sheer brilliance.

A tight 3-way between The Wire, Oz and,for me anyway, The Sopranoes. The Wire is compulsive but i think people think its the best cos its still fresh in the mind. The Shield is knocking on the door too

I am watching The Shield at the moment when working night shifts. I do agree, very good show. Not a patch on The Wire, though. Would've been good to see Vic Mackey going after Marlo Stanfield's crew - he wouldn't have stood a chance. Chris Partlow would've had him 'got' in no time.

Thing for me, is, Snoop was a stone killer too. But somehow, she humanized Chris. The only time I ever saw him show restraint was when they were running out the New York boys and he told her how to ferret them out. Snoop was about to kill a guy on a corner and Chris pulled her back. Not that he felt anything for the guy, but he had a strict set of rules he followed (ie, whatever Marlo told him to do). That and when he killed Michael's brother's father. For some reason, how he killed the man seemed deeply personal, almost like he'd known him. Even the cops thought he'd been killed by someone he was familiar with.
