    Thats a great question.

I'd be happy with Semi's because I think we have an easy run until the Quarters, really this year I'm thinking we have a real chance of the finals, only 2 on paper tough games which is Quarters and Semi's, so we could have enough to squeeze through.

I'd be happy enough if their made it to the quarter finals then again how many times have we got to the quarters and then crumble. Its about we won the bloody cup,but their need to shape up good and proper due to their absolutely dreadful proformances in their recent friendly games.England's consistancey is the mean problem.I only see true heart and dire in young Rooney, the rest of them dont seemed to have or show true grit and heart.Stuart Pearce needs to bee the next england manager without a doubt,in fact if he was already the mamnager in this great tournament i would see England making it to the finals.Pearce takes no shit with any slackers out there.

By the way Engalnd are 3rd favourites at the bookies at a price round about 11/2

Spain are 1st favourites at 4/1 and Brazil are 2nd favourites at 9/2.

If we don't win it, I just hope the team go out playing well, in normal time and being beaten by a better team.

Semi-final has got to be the yard stick, and it has been since 1990 !

Fair enough the team has been good enough for only the quarters in recent tournaments, but with Fabio in charge this time round i feel the semi's if not the final is a realistic shout. It really is the last time we will see the likes of Lampard, Gerrard, Terry etc performing at world cup in an effective manner, i would be suprised if they made the team next time around, So this has to be the year the come out and show the world what they can do !

I think we've got a potentially tough run to the semis, so if we got that far it would be great. Can't see it myself though. The likely last 16 game will be Serbia, Ghana or Australia, all of which could be quite tricky, but I'd think that Serbia are the most likely opponents. They've got a solid, strong team, so it won't be easy to get by them. But, if either England or Germany come 2nd in their group and the other wins theirs, we'd play each other in the last 16. Now I know Germany are missing some key players, but they're still Germany, so I'd rather we avoid them.

The quarters would be meh. France (if they manage to get out of their group) or the runner up from group B (South Korea, Greece or Nigeria) shouldn't be too hard, but it depends how well we play. If recent friendlies are anything to go by, we could end up making life a lot harder for ourselves against any of these teams.

So I think if we manage to get to the semis it would be a great achievement. You've also got to consider that we're 8th I believe in the FIFA World Rankings, so by their system a quarter final elimination should be expected. Anything above that would be a bonus IMO

Sad, but true mate! Still should make the semi, due to the easy passage.

Aint it weird how opinion has changed becuase of 2 friendlies and an exhibition (which we have been dogsh1t in all) During and after qualifying everybody was on the crest of a wave, massive swing of negativity recently (me included) not sure if it's warranted

IMO we have 4 World Class players: Cole, Lampard, Gerard and Rooney - Spain, for example, have a team full of world class players

Yes mate, I agree we have half decent draw, but as soon as we meet a Brazil or Spain, or even a Holland Argentina etc etc I think they are technically to good, everytime I watch England they don't play like a team at all, the first half of Mexico showed are limitations I feel.

This bollocks it's are best chance since 1966, is exactly that bollocks, we had just a good a team/sqaud in 06.

i won't be satisfied going out full stop

has to be all the way. I have to belive but am a realist these days.

Its time to go further than the quarters though - and if we do anything can happen. And though I would hate to see it it's time to lay our penalty shootout demons to rest - god help us

So get to the semis and still have Rooney, Gerrard and Lampard fit and on the pitch - and the team brimming with confidence and believing - then we will be a match for anybody. And though we won't fancy playing Spain they won't fancy facing us either.

But we do need a good win against USA saturday to kick us off.

I love world cups - but also dread them...
Don't bully fat kids - they've got enough on their plate
