I just want him to zero in on a top guy, any guy, take whatever warm-up fights he needs, and make a hero of himself.

You don't have to fight them all Ricky, but please promise us one war with a Cotto or Floyd type character before you vamoose.

disappointing matchup for this hatton fan Im afraid....
    I agree

Also why the hell is it in December??

Thats seven months after his last fight? I think his lifestyle will catch up with him pretty quick if he keeps having these long breaks between fights, im suprised this isnt in Sept/Oct?

I think fighters like Hatton should have maybe 8 weeks off after a fight then back into it, but when he is having nearly double that, and also what he does to his body it cant be good.
There is no reason why a pro like Hatton cant be fighting a solid 3 fights a year and in that time take on an "easier" fight like this one....I would have less of an issue with the fight that way....but this 2 fights a year business and talk of retiring around 30, well, it just leaves a bitter taste in my mouth when he is fighting someone as little known as Urkal....

    Very frustrating to be honest....
Frustrating but if he wants to just fight 6 more times and call it a day, however he does it I am all for it. I would for once like to see a young guy walk away with some loot and his marbles.
I would love for Hatton to retire with his mental faculties intact. But at least fight the best on offer and retire at 30 like he says he will....

Otherwise admit that you are deviating from the path you told us you would follow....

Every fight can't be a superfight. Maybe this is just a time filler, waiting to see if Oscar fights PBF next year.
Is it good practice for PBF I dont think so.....im not sure that that fight will ever happen to be honest...
From PBF point of view $20+ million is worth waiting on. If he fights somebody else and loses his 0 then why would Oscar want to fight him? Even if Oscar fought him after his lost his 0 PBF would not get as much money. We have all heard it "if it makes dollars then it makes sense"

Now alot of people like to talk about the credibility of pbfs last few opponents but what about hatton.Maussa, collazo, and now urkal. Come on. I don't wanna hear any hatton fans talking about floyds opponents anymore. At least floyd has fought more than 1 good opponent in his career. What happened to hattons plan? Why don't he fight margarito?
PBF doesn't fight tony so hes ducking him, hatton don't even mention tony and thats ok.
Step up so I can put you down

Bit dissapointed but if your looking at the positives he can feel his way more into the 147 division.

Then bring on Floyd-Cotto next year!!
wake me up when Hatton steps up and fights a real fighter.....

PBF's last 3 where a shot Gatti, Sharmba Mitchell and then 'straight off a loss' Judah....

2 of the aforementioned were KILLED by Kostya Tszyu...

Collazo is better than all those 3 - and he did it away from home, stepping up a weight with 7 weeks notice.

Tszyu, Maussa and Collazzo are infinitely better than those dregs.

    Cheer up, have a t-shirt:

Not at all man - just think credit is due as he has faced some tough opponents the last 3 fights.

Bigragu - c'mon can you seriously argue the case for PBF's last 3 against Hatton's ?

Not even close - Hatton beat the then current P4P No2 and was not given a chance, now all of a sudden he's old?

I think Floyd is a great boxer and to dispute that is crazy - but can you honestly say he is taking risks?? certainly not.

All this talk of Margarito avoidance does him no favours either - Hatton avoiding PBF is simply hearsay -the avoidance of Tony is FACT. Even Arum is confused as to why it aint happening....

...I think if Tony lands a bomb then lil Floyd will crumble - he was on queer street against little Corley.

that's the difference between the 2 fighters......PBF convincingly beats his opponents almost to the point of embarrassment and people want to discredit his opponents......Hatton wins and there is alway speculation as to whether Hatton is as good as advertised(Collazo)..... You never question PBF's abilities.....we'll hopefully see in the future.....

Maussa, Collazo, and Urkal are not better than Gatti, Sharmba, Judah. In no way shape or form, whoever said that is kidding themselves.. So what 2 of those got killed by Kosta, think of this... Urkal was Killed by Vivian Harris, who was "killed" by Maussa, who basically sucks and was killed by Cotto long ago. Are a totally green Cotto and Vivian Harris better than Kosta Tszyu? Sure Hatton has 1 great win but this is just a total step backwards. Urkal is a fight he could have got before Kosta Tszyu, then it would have been big, but Vivian Harris took it instead and beat him twice. And Urkal isn't even a welterweight is he?? Probably just moved up. There's no doubt Collazo was a really tough opponent, but he wasn't supposed to be.. and that's the problem. Not to mention if it's actually in December that's waaay to long.
