    Default THIS is James Toney...

Might be some hero salvaging going on here. Yeh he had some spots even in prime to blame himself for... but that other aged, bloated and NON mma vet, gimmick & side show contestant we saw tonight.....not the Toney of relevance!!

Yes, that is more like it. That's the way he needs to be remembered.

Toney was so promising when he first went to HW, but he blew it again and again. He was caught for steroids with Ruiz, simply couldn't be bothered to train for Rahman and thereafter was playing catchup to father time and his inability to hold the waistline and conditioning in.

Still a lot of great fights over the years and some of the best smarts from any era.

One of the best chins in boxing history , a former middle weight champ who took punches from the likes of Sam Peter , also a very slick counter puncher , who could also come forward and force the fight.
I always thought he could have beaten Eubank and Benn on the same night.

As long as he was able to dispatch of Benn first, I fully expect he would have beaten both back to back.
