    Spot on.
Besides, he only really ever had 1% chance of winning anyway. Now it's like .5%.

    It's not worth complaining over
He should turn up, grab the belt from ringside, walk up to Canelo, pat him on the back, hand him the strap, wave to the crowd and go back to the locker room.

    Seriously.
Or accidentally knock the referee out, climb out the ring, grab a steel chair and hit Alvarez over the head with it. Wake the referee up and take the victory.
All the while, Ricky Hatton has run out from the locker room, ran to the Alvarez corner before performing a Stone Cold stunner on Eddy Reynoso.
Come off it. Ricky's in no condition to run

It's obviously a weight problem with Canelo. He's the only one who has any authority about what happens in this fight. While Canelo is being groomed. Matthew Hatton is going to get his fire stomped out in about 4-6 rounds.

And how many eclipsed brothers is this guy going to fight?? This is such a bogus publicity stunt to get his name mixed in with the names of other REAL world champions.

    Jose Miguel Cotto
    Matthew Hatton
    Larry Mosley (Shane's brother)
    Pedro Lopez (JuanMas older brother)

    the list goes on..

I would have said that doesn't make any rational sense. But for the WBC, there has to be a contract because they removed the weigh-in protections from their rules. Before there is no need to have a "contracted" weight, as long as they are fighting up to the division weight limit. The purpose of a contracted weight is provide leverage over the advantaged larger fighter. That application hasn't changed.

The boxing commissions already have rules in place to protect the fighters at the weight class limit but the 24-30 hour weigh-in rules will hopefully start to change. Massachusetts State Athletic Commission is leading the way in it's young life. They approved double weigh-ins for the MMA last year temporarily and will move to introduce legislation make it permanent. The cap is set at 1.0625 for the second weigh-in that a fighter is allowed to gain. Example, a fighter contracted to fight at 135 pounds can’t come in higher than 143.4375 pounds on fight night. California started in this direction back in 2005 after the Gatti vs Gamache fight, but dropped into the background in order to let other states take the lead in providing evidence that the current unfair practice is unsafe. There is really only two states that can look into this from a medical perspective and that is Texas and Nevada. I wouldn't expect anything unless the esteemed Senator McCain gets his Boxing Act through for a National Boxing Commission.

Personally I don't "think" this the cap makes boxing any safer and "feel" it's actually counter productive toward safety. In the spirit of fairness and the out of respect for safety they should have same day weigh-ins and remove the temptation for "qualifying" to fight at the lower classes to gain an advantage.

It's on HBO, you can usually pick it up on a live internet stream. I found soapcast to be pretty good.

I recently ran across this still maturing site. FightNight it list who's broadcasting. It's pretty good for the America's schedules. Not so much for your side of the Globe though. Sky schedule

Ricky Hatton has said if Canelo weighs in at over 150 (the contracted weight when the fight was announced), he will suggest that Matthew pulls out.

Ricky Hatton will urge his brother Matthew to pull out of his first world title fight if his whizz-kid opponent tips the scales heavier than their privately agreed catchweight limit.

Lawyer Gareth Willilams, chief executive of Hatton Promotions, goes further. He insists that if carrot-topped Mexican protegee Saul Alvarez weighs in above 10st 10lbs for Saturday's light-middleweight bout 'then the fight is off.'

Hatton the Younger, a natural welterweight, insisted on the 150lbs limit for his naturally heavier opponent but, as revealed here earlier this week, the WBC are sanctioning the contest for their vacant title at the full light-middleweight poundage of 11st.

Hitman Ricky says: 'Our contract with Golden Boy promotions stipulates both fighters come in at or under 150 lbs. If Alvarez is above that I would want Matthew to call it off. He is already giving away weight to a bigger man.'

The elder Hatton's suspicions deepened as he watched the 20-year-old Alvarez work out on Tuesday. He noted: 'This lad doesn't look to me like he's draining down to the agreed limit. His face doesn't look drawn like mine did when I had to make the weight. I'm wondering if he's just going to come in at his usual poundage, pay the fine that's in the contract and expect the fight to go on.'

Alavarez stands to lose 30 per cent of his purse if he scales above 150lbs but the championshp status of the event would not be affected.

Old-fashioned catchweight contests have been coming back into fashion, although the WBC were heavily criticised after pound-for-pound king Manny Pacquaio beat up Antonio Margarito to win this light-middle title, his record eighth world championship in different weight divisions, before vacating the belt to go back down to 147s lbs.

For Matthew Hatton, an overweight Alvarez would present a dilemma. This is the biggest fight of his life, the one for which he dreamed while learning his craft in brother Ricky's shadow, the chance of a lifetime.

He seems to be the most relaxed person in his camp, saying: 'I've heard what's being said but I want to believe that Alvarez will honour our agreement. If not, it will cost him a third of his purse....and give us a decision to make.'

Giving the time and expense incurred in setting up this promotion and journeying to California, the pressure on Hatton to go through with this fight is huge.

His team have already had to concede to the bringing forward of the weigh-in to noon on Friday, which will give the unbeaten Alvarez an extra three or four hours to regain his normal fighting weight before he enters the ring at the Honda Center in Anaheim.
Be interesting to see if he sticks to his word. Can't see him pulling out of the fight, though. He won't get a bigger pay day in his life.

Just watched Canelo vs Baldomir again. After the fight he said he was returning to welterweight, wanted to be a welterweight world champion and thought he'd be ready in a year, eighteen months. That plan obviously went out of the window.

Do people think he'll stay at 154lbs after this fight? Can't see him relinquishing his title to move back down - especially seeing how he, allegedly, struggles to get down to 147.

Maybe they just don't want the British public seeing his execution? Seeing as how they have such a big interest in him and everything...

Sky are showing it on a delayed broadcast. Starts at 6.30pm on Sky Sports 2, Sunday night.

See Hatton on Sky! | Sky Sports | Boxing | Features

Looks like it's going to be a stream job to see it live though. The only other channels that would show it are PrimeTime, but they've got a Strikeforce show on, or Premier Sports who are showing Zab Judah vs Kaizer Mabuza.
