Cotto wins by mid round stoppage. Thanxs to his countryman Trinidad who beat the hell out of Mayorga and softened him up. Trinidad made it easier for De la hoya to take out Mayorga. Though Cotto's taken some punishment himself he's definately the smarter and better boxer of the two. I'm a huge Cotto fan and I have watched the majority of his fights. He keeps me on the edge with his occasional defensive lapses. He'll stop punching and wait for the change as he did against Margaritto. Stewart should make a big difference and have Cotto doing different things and getting hit less. Cotto will break him down and should finish the job by the 8th or 9th rd

    i dont see it contest

cannot for the life of me fathom how anyone can call this for anything other than a devestating cotto tko victory. He is too quick and too technically gifted for mayorga who is an out and out slugger

may take him 6-7 rounds but eventually once he gets mayorga he`ll finish the job in a nasty way and i`ll be we willing to take a SIGGY BET with anyone who thinks otherwise

Heres an interview with Al Bernstien, he says what good shape Mayorga was in when he visited his camp 10 days before the fight. His words were "almost on weight" He also mentions how hard an unfit Mayorga can fight over 12 rounds and that now he really is in shape it makes this fight very interesting!

    Exactly what iv been saying

FIGHTHYPE \\ AL BERNSTEIN: "I'M REALLY EXCITED...EVERYONE WATCHES A MANNY PACQUIAO FIGHT"

I will go for a late KO win for Cotto.

I find it difficult to root for the loud, the aggressive, and the obnoxious sort in Mayorga. If Mayorga wins then he proves me wrong in being inclined to think his presence in this fight is to him but a mere “money grab”.

That said, I hope Mayorga proves me wrong and fight a good and smart fight to give the boxing fan, something kinda’ wonderful to talk about!

Both fighters weighing in at 154lbs.

Cotto walked off the stage, refusing to do the stare down with Mayorga.

Damn... I had the poll close prematurely. Oh well... looks like an overwhelming pick for Cotto by TKO at some point. What's this? No "Mayorga by decision" votes? LOL... obviously that is probably the LEAST likely scenario. Come to think of it, has Mayorga won any fights recently by decision? The guy's like a kamikaze fighter..... KTFO or be KTFO'ed.

Mayorga likes to amp himself up by having stare downs and talking trash....Cotto is denying him that and its already frustrating Mayorga you can tell.

Agreed. He's refusing to let Mayorga get under his skin. He's playing it smart.

The fact that he wont pose or do the staredown means Mayorga has got to him. He's worried he may react, Mayorga already in his head and the first round bell hasnt even rang yet.

Could be, but Cotto is a cool customer and Mayorga hasn't really gone overboard like he has before this is why I think Cotto just isn't giving Mayorga the energy he requires to amp himself up into fighting spirit. Cotto is saving up all his energy for fight night.

Just my opinion though and it COULD backfire, but I think Miguel has this pretty easy.

Is it conceivable that Mayorga's frustration with Cotto's unwillingness to exchange staredowns and trash-talk, could lead him to try something desperate? Like push Miguel during pre-fight intros?

Mayorga gets his energy from getting his opponent worked up, I just think it takes something away from Mayorga when Cotto won't stare him down at the press conferences or whatever....I don't doubt for a second that Cotto is ready.
