Haye got in the ring with a bigger man fighting for the biggest prize in his proffesion. I would urge anyone who is critisizing haye to look at their own life and think about what it is they do and a what point they plan on reaching the very top of it. Then think to yourself if you just fell slightly short but had a load of people moaning at you for it.

If a rematch happens, which I think it will, more than likely the out come will be the same, but I'll still be supporting haye throughout.
Haye is going to go down as the biggest Fraud in heavyweight championship history. Way to go! Haye is the Enron of boxing. hahaha

Lol no I think most the current crop of american heavyweights already beat haye to that a long time ago. But what ever makes you feel better about your own countries failures.

The closest America got to a David Haye type fighter (a trash talking pussy) is Kevin Johnson....and I'll bet he threw and landed more punches than Haye did.

Have you actually seen the punch stats? It's not like wlad threw double the amount of punches haye did. It was pretty even. Most of wlads were just jabs anyway.

Haye's post fight excuses are hardly surprising and in some ways are actually a healthy mindset for him to adopt,

Numerous psychological studies have shown that elite sportsman are more character disordered than ordinary people, which means that they blame their failures on external situations and factors rather than taking the blame themselves, as a nuerotic would do.

It may make him look a bit of a dick, but in his own mind I'm convinved he absolutely believes what he is saying is true. It will help him get over the loss and pick himself up mentally should he choose to fight again.

To hate him because of what is his natural, instinctive mindset is a bit silly. It's that self belief that got him to where he is and is actually a huge asset for any high achiever. It makes him look silly to us now, but the way he can rationalise failures away is a definiter key component for success and high performance so you shouldn't be too harsh on him for it.

Wlad threw a lot more punches than Haye, almost double in fact. Haye's output was shocking.

I dont pull for a fighter just because they are American. I like Wlad because he is respectful, classy, and I like his style. Mostly the fact that he KOs people with booming shots and busts people up. He is German/Ukranian. As for americans, I cant stand Mayweather and would hope Pacman KOs him but I believe Mayweather would beat him. I will be pulling for Froch against Andre Ward. I didnt like Froch to begin with but the loss humbled him and I like him better now. I hate Ward and his style. So saying the Americans are crap doesnt really bother me.

Let's put all this stuff about fan loyalty aside because as I mentioned on other occasions,I only saw Haye fight once and I was not impressed with him as a heavyweight. I did what all of you did and did not receive what I expected, a competition for the largest prize in the ring. It was a waste of cold beer to sit and watch the human version of the European Grand Prix auto races without a motor in involved. I turned to the local Latin channels and I watched tough Mexican fighters do their thing for a great deal less money.

What this shows is just how unreliable compubox is. Two different sets of people calculating punches thrown by ringside had completely different results.

I honestly thought he had the skills to trouble Wlad, if not beat him.
I was pretty embarrassed by his performance and lack of aggression on Saturday night, but was willing to accept that Wlad was much the better fighter and easily deserved the win.
What really got my back up, was the "little toe waving" and excuse making from Haye.
You are a heavyweight world champion, who has just been schooled by a much bigger and better opponent, just accept it, show a little humility and respect, and go home.
Waving the life threatening toe injury around straight after the fight, when the adrenaline is still pumping is one thing. But to stand on the desk at a press conference a few hours later is something totally different.
Surely a doctor or his management should have told Haye, that the best cure for a broken toe is to man the fuck up!
If Haye continues boxing, and holds his next fight at the bottom of my garden, I will draw the curtains.
If he does get a rematch, I hope Wlad bangs him on his arse in the first round.

    Yours Sincerely

    FtMatty,

To the extent that you are admitting when you were wrong about a fighter, bravo. You are one of few who do that on this board. Good for you though. Cheers.

How many of those punches were jabs?

I'm not really argueing the point. I agree haye should have thrown a hell of a lot more. To win the lottery you gotta buy a ticket. Haye didn't buy enough tickets.

    I agree.
I think some people may count the pawing/feinting that Wlad does as a punch.

A punch is a punch....and Wlad was the one stalking down Haye not the other way around which counts for INTENT to actually fight a bit. Haye ran, tried to draw fouls, and it was just a pathetic display, I wouldn't even call it an "effort". I would have done better, yeah it makes me look like a keyboard warrior but I'd go out getting KO'd like a man and not running like a little punk especially after over 2 years of talking non-stop shit "The Klitschko's are boring, I'll save the division" blah blah blah...Britons are rightfully angry at Haye for humiliating not only himself but his entire country.

For your sake hopefully Fury-Chisora has some actual boxing in it.

I read Bunce's article today, even HE has stopped carrying the water for Team Hayemaker. Though he still insists that Haye continue fighting rather than retire.

IMO Haye doesn't deserve to get paid for that fight.

It doesn't matter how many were jabs, Wlad was pressing the action and clearly it is all worked off the jab. The man threw a typical HW amount in terms of volume. Haye was about half of that.

All I am arguing is that Haye didn't do anything beyond the 4th. It was as though he had lost the will and was in cruise control.

One man did what was needed, the other did far less.

Haye should track down all of the fans that were at the weigh in and at the fight and pay them back out of the money he made on the fight. Funny how everyone was dogging Wlad because he didnt have any fans cheering for him but the last laugh was on all the chumps that traveled from Briton to Germany to support the fraud. They are out a chunk of change and are a laughingstock.
