I actually didn't think it was that bad for a heavyweight fight. Both guys were in shape (how many HW fights can we even say that?) and the last round was really exciting.
Just because the HBO commentary was shit doesn't mean the fight equaled their assessment. They wanted to equate Haye with being a bum and a loser (except the real fighter who commentated.)
"If there's a better chin in the world than Pryor's, it has to be on Mount Rushmore." -Pat Putnam.
HBO especially Larry Merchant is very quick to shit all over a fight, but in this case they gave Wlad credit but just called Haye out for not coming to fight and rightfully so.
Look at all the shit Haye talked about Wlad's competition but in the end he was even worse.
Well in fairness:
I never listen to any pre-fight talk or hype. We have a much better sport than WWF and I do not believe I have to resort to such build-up tactics to enjoy boxing, and if I had to, I would no longer be a fan of the sport.
I just think the best way to build up a fight is to show the fighters previous fights and that should be enough. If it isn't, well you may have a disguised mismatch on your hands.
To people bothered by Hayes shit talking, you only have yourselves to blame. Just don' tune in. I don't listen to celebrities or sports figures for political advice. Further, boxers hardly ever do what they are going to say they are going to do (inside the ring or out). Every boxer says he is retiring and except for Lennox, it is usually a lie. Every boxer interviewed says he is going to win VIA TKO/KO and rarely does so. I don't think this is his fault, almost always a boxer truly has to believe he has the goods to get teh job done in order to be successful at any level. Asking who is going to win and in what fashion is wasting everyone's time. The truly humble boxer is a rare specimen.

Im watching it here now for the first time with Russian commentary.
To be honest it looks like Haye came to fight and tried a few things out in the first 3.
At the end of the 3rd he realized he contacted with Wald and Wlad gave him better instantly so he smiled at him on the ropes as they do when they feel it. lucky Wlad didnt contact solid with the last punch of the round on the bell or it may have ended there.
4th I see Haye is now wider stanced and rear foot is facing away a touch more like he is thinking of running,he has changed tactics here in the 4th and is being very evasive and allusive throwing less until the very end of the round where he has another go but fails to contact.
See how the rest goes![]()
I like it in Russian.
Wlads such a straight shooter that knows his limits and his distances for his own style.Haye is now fighting the wrong fight; going in straight lines with head down while trying for high shots and the other way, a low straight for a reaction but he's not committing for fear of being caught and heads out or away nearly backwards as he does it. Doesn't make him look good between grabs. He's semi realized he cant hurt him but he can get hurt.
I could'nt be fucked, I watched until Wald got a point deducted for Hayes good acting then went to the 12th.
Fuk me Haye was swinging shots at the end like a wounded school girl.
Have to say he kept throwing them though hoping for a lucky connect. I mean its like trying to throw a reaching hook around a 4 foot long pole thats in your face ,it wasnt ever going to work in straight lines.
Haye held his own hand high at the end of round 12thats comedy gold right there.
Wlad deserves the win.
Haye deserved the loss, along with the disrespectful so called boxing fans that went along for the ride.
Imagine if Wlad had the added ammunition of a side step out with an angled uppercut to meet Hayes head as it went down. Or if Haye had fought like Tyson used to and go in, make contact then go under and attack. We could have seen fireworks.
Just got home and am able to see that vidDamn! Homeboy has some ugly feet too
Hey, honestly man this shouldn't turn into some nationalistic chest thump. A braggart got beat, Wlad merits respect and continued success. As a boxing fan I'd like to see Haye comeback soon with some intensity and a fire to match the punch. The end!
Were you not only failing at sarcasm but completely missusing a Three Stooges quote... or do you not know what 'resent' means?
Either way you're a bit simple, hope this helps. X
re·sem·ble verb /riˈzembəl/
resembled, past participle; resembled, past tense; resembles, 3rd person singular present; resembling, present participle
- Have qualities or features, esp. those of appearance, in common with (someone or something); look or seem like
- - some people resemble their dogs
- - they seemed to resemble each other closely
Most 'Chavs' hate David Haye and wanted to see him knocked out. But with your informed world view you'd know that.
If you were a bit more clued up you'd be able to also see that those two are clearly posing at a fancy dress party or something... that's an extreme parody of Britian's favourite underclass... but even the worst of them don't actually wear giant dollar signs and double hoop ear rings... good god.![]()
All this incessant bantering about Haye and Wlad is pointless, really. The fight did NOT live up to pre-fight expectations (oh.... except for Fenster, who knew all along we were all being taken for a ride..... oh, you genius Fenster you). The real loser here was boxing, which as we all know has a dwindling fan base and seriously needs a good "pick-me-up." I imagine if Boxing and the Casual Fan had had a conversation, it must've gone something like this:
Boxing: Pssssst.... hey, don't miss out on the upcoming Wlad-Haye fight. Look at all the highlight reels of Haye knockouts. Look at all the venom Haye is spouting. Look and hear what Haye is promising to do to Wlad. This will be the biggest HW event in years.
Casual Fan: No way! I've been THAT road before. You're just trying to get me interested again, just so I can suffer another disappointment. I thought Wlad vs. Peter was going to be good. I thought Sultan was a real danger to Wlad and would be a good fight. I'm DONE with the heavyweights. There hasn't been anything worth looking at since the Tyson-Lewis-Holyfield days.
Boxing: No.... no..... I really mean it this time. I promise it'll be a good fight. Scout's honor. This guy's fast..... this guy's smart..... this guy's got power. And he ain't scared. Again, hear what he's saying he's going to do to Wlad.
Casual Fan: Aww gee..... I don't know. I'd hate to be disillusioned again. Too many more of these, and I'm gonna swear off boxing altogether. You KNOW how I only care about the heavyweights. As the big guys go.... so does my interest in boxing.
Boxing: You won't regret it.
(Boxing walks off..... a slight smile creeping across its face. In the background, an evil giggling noise can be heard.
Jesus christ!!! Get over it you sad bastard.
The fight was between a man that is CONSTANTLY accused of being BORING, so much so that HBO stopped showing his fights, and a man that averaged 13 punches a round winning the WBA title.
Any hardcore fan that thought it would be Gatti-Ward, just because of Haye's expert promotion and Wlad being so "offended" by Haye's expert promotion, is a gullible fool.
The "excitement" factor was either man could end it with ONE shot. It didn't happen so we got a stinker. End of.
3-Time SADDO PREDICTION COMP CHAMPION.
I would love to hear the HBO commentary for this fight because I have a feeling Larry & Jim were spitting venom![]()
