Both are good fights and will present different challenges to Canelo. Isn't it funny that it is widely accepted that Molina beat Kirkland and Lara beat Williams, yet, it is Williams and Kirkland, not Lara or Molina, getting the Canelo fight.
It is even worse than that for Molina.
Molina beats Cintron; Cintron still gets fight against Canelo
Molina beats Kirkland; Kirkland is in the discussion for Canelo
Lara beating williams; Williams in discussion for Canelo
Molina or Lara are a much tougher test for Canelo. Molina is awkward. Lara is a skilled southpaw.
Canelo's team avoding both like the plague in favor of a brawler (Kirkland) or a guy who used to win solely on length, chin, and volume (PW).
if you are going to avoid an awkward guy like Molina or a southpaw boxer like Lara, then how in the hell are you going to face a master boxer like Mayweather

?
How many top 10 (ring ranked or espn rankings) guys has Canelo beaten? Rhodes. That is it.
Canelo's opponents:
cotto's brother-much smaller guy having to come up in weight
Baldomir-old as hell
Ndou-old as hell and his best weight was 140
Hatton-not the biggest guy at 147 much less fighting at a limit of 152
Rhodes-ranked in top 10 by ring magazine, espn-but he wasn't exactly a spring chicken
Gomez-best weight isn't 154 for sure and only solid at his best weight
Cintron-lost badly to Molina; won against Smith but looked lackluster. And already past his prime
Mosley-old and hadn't won a fight since January 2009.
He beats 1 legit top 10 guy (who wasn't shot) but was an older fighter. Other than that he beat up very old guys, much smaller guys, or guys that were already shot all to hell.
How does that qualify him to face P4P level fighters

?? It doesn't. NOt in the least.
I can't recall many guys trying to start facing the absolute elite of the entire sport when they won't even take on a top guy in his division who isn't ancient and is still in his prime!!!!!!!!
