I think that Mayweather is taking this fight because he has Cotto figured out. Before going to jail he said he would fight again in November or december. His conditioning will be an issue, but my guess is that he thinks he has Cotto figured out enough, after the last fight, that he can handle him impressively while not at his physical peak.
