I definitely wouldn't say he was a small light welter. He almost looked drained at times at 140. Those cold sore outbreaks he used to get on weigh in days are a sure sign of his lowered immune system..possibly due to weight drain?
True but he was never physical big at the weight come fight night. Case in point - Castillo who was a monster at135 was a lot bigger than Hatton come fight night. Hatton is not a physically awesome guy at 140 and looked deminutive against even Floyd Mayweather at 147.
If Hatton had of fought Katsidids, I doubt there'd of been much if anything between them.
Castillo was not bigger then Hatton on fight night. That is a crock. And Floyd Mayweather walks around within 5 pounds of his weigh in and he fights at that weight. Hatton looked gaunt at 147.
This notion that Hatton was the shrimp of the division is ridiculous.
I agree with this. Also from the time Billy Graham and Hatton said that "Ricky is bigger than Floyd and if you're not bigger than Ricky, then you're in trouble!" then the weight card must go out the window, surely?

From some of the replies I think people are reading into this like it's a Hatton hate thread. I don't hate Hatton. I dislike his fighting style and can't particularly relate to him as a person but I have immense respect for him for seeking out all challengers after becoming a world champion. He is one of, it not the most popular British fighters of all time and although I disliked his style, that doesn't mean I think his style was ineffective. It was very effective and he was damn good at executing it. It simply wasn't to my personal taste.
