Tragic story, but I have to shake my head when I watch news stories on this where they talk to snake experts who always peddle the same line. "Ohhh it's so shocking! Ohhh I can't believe the snake did that, it's so rare, they're not usually like that."
THAT'S WHAT THE FUCK A PYTHON DOES! It finds small prey, and then it squeezes it until it dies. Why do we think that when we capture a wild animal and keep it sealed off, that suddenly undoes hundreds of thousands of years of evolutionary hardwiring? If you keep an animal with that kind of stopping power, you better make damn sure it doesn't get out.
