My understanding is that Oscar was born, and lived his life, in California. He is not Mexican; he is an American of Mexican descent.
If you think this difference is irrelevant, then you have never been to the fights at the Olympic Auditorium when a 'Mexican' fought a 'Mexican-American.'

Floyd was born in Michigan so he is American. Oscar was born in L.A so they are both American. Floyd's Father was born in Amory Mississippi so he too is American not Kenyan ?

Bro, I was clearly joking. You know being that black Americans are African Americans so I named a country in Africa. Clearly a joke in reference to Oscar being in the discussion as Mexico's biggest star.

ah..O.K. I find it weird that Americans often find it so necessary to prefix themselves with Irish, African, Mexican, Italian e.t.c. To Europeans and people in the rest of the world it comes across as being really lame. Just because your great grandfather was Irish does not make you Irish-American. It makes you a plastic Paddy.
