BUT....

Take a look at Mike Tyson's physique, remember what made him a dominant fighter, and you'll see that his style was perfect for his body type. You can say the same about Tommy Hearns and his style (which was totally different of course).

There have been taller fighters who have used the Tyson style to some success: Floyd Patterson 6'0, Buster Mathis 6'3, Buster Mathis Jr. 6'3. The deal with Buster & Buster Jr is that they had relatively short arms which called for them to fight in that compact style. I think if God has blessed you with decent height and a good reach you need to make the best use of it...no use in giving your opponent so many chances to hit you by giving up your height and reach, it's not the smartest play to do that, but in the end you do what feels right to you and what works.

I think pressure fighters age out quickly because they have a style which burns off a LOT of energy, they provide their opponents loads of opportunities to hit them, and you will no doubt eventually run into #1 A guy who knows how to control distance with the jab (see Tyson-Douglas, Ali-Patterson, Tyson-Lewis) and #2 A guy who is a bigger stronger bully than you (Liston-Patterson, Holyfield-Tyson)...but every fighter is different, if you can add a wrinkle to that style and nullify the advantages of those kinds of fighters then you'll go far.

I hope you make it work man, keep us updated!
Hm..i watched the tyson-lennox fight i thought lennox used the clinch and his right hand to kept tyson at bay? At the very start you see tyson trying to get on the inside with his usual stuff, but then gets hit with a huge uppetcut, and throughout the rest of the fight i just saw lennox holding his right back, at the ready to throw another one just incase tyson got a little brave. Hmm...have to watch it again to watch lennoxs' jab.

Also which fight are you talking about? ali-patterson 1 or 2??

And if ali was so good at keeping the distance with patterson, what happened in the fight with fraizer?

For one Patterson was older. Besides that totally different styles. Both pressure fighters yes but Frazier imo had more power was faster and even had better movement.

Not to mention Ali lost just enough conditioning (notice I didn't say speed because he still had the speed) after his lay off for Frazier to keep up with him. Ali pre-lay off dances circles around Frazier.
