The guy really made himself out to be an idiot. My brothers company actually ended up voting the union out after having it for a couple years. Of course I've heard of first hand positive experiences from People I know who work for union companies. Union have done a lot of good for a lot of people, they definitely helped in the formation of better labor laws during the early years of industry but they can do some funky stuff here in the US. The place I work for now is non union but I have to say they have an excellent human resource staff that goes out of its way to work out any issues. I'm not saying unions are all bad or unnecessary but if one were to familiarize one self with labor laws there is a lot of protection for workers already in place. If workers want to unionize, more power to them. I was very disappointed with the politics of the government union I worked for. I got a lump sum of money for being laid off even though I wasn't laid off, I was moved to a different department during layoffs. You would think I would be happy but it's money I didn't ask nor fight for.
Anyway, I went off topic with that money thing. Unions in the US can be a very strange beast.
