I am from Nova Scotia. I can honestly say I do not know of 3 friends who can name more than 3 active fighters. And if they can they couldn't name who they fought last. Just names they heard while watching sports highlights while waiting for hockey stats.
Our province has a strong boxing history and it is a shame no one here has ever heard of a Sam Langford, let alone a George Dixon. But can tell you who played what position with what jersey number of almost any team in the NHL.
I feel so alone I am going to open a beer, eat some back bacon with maple syrup while wearing my toque. Have a good one, eh.

And poor @frasd. WTF happened there? One of the last places on earth to teach Gaelic. Shit half of Ireland has probably learned their Gaelic from that province Kirk Johnson was a bit of a sad note to go out on.

Which puts Yukon, population 35, 000 ahead of my home province of Alberta and birth province of Saskatchewan in their combined boxing history

Translated Nova Scotia actually means New Scotland and our Gaelic is more true to the original only because the rest of the world moved on and we didn't. I actually have met Kirk at the gym and he isn't the asshole he has presented himself as being. That being said, I am not his friend and maybe I am wrong.

But he shouldn't be in the same sentence as any of the other greats from this location although I did have hopes for him before the Ruiz fight.

And for the Newfie, I lost my first amateur fight in NFLD. I blamed it on being 15 and scamming free drinks on the ferry ride over the night before. That is true but so is the fact that you guys are as hard as you are sociable. Having the most bars on one street in all of North America is a record you should be proud of. I once passed a guy holding out jumper cables and his hood up. I stopped and helped him out. He asked if I was from Cape Breton or Newfoundland thinking he was referring to my accent. He said that his car was a piece of shit but the only people that would ever stop were one of the two.

Good to talk to fellow Canucks but I will settle for anyone who is boxing informed at this point. I know amateur boxers that don't even know the difference between Ray Robinson and Ray Leonard.

Try having people still asking you if Tyson is making a comeback in 2015 or asking who who Tito is or Hearns which are two posters in my office.

Not trying to kiss ass on a British dominated forum but they are by a long shot the most knowledgeable about their own history and their modern era. I also think that they are above most countries on their knowledge of the international scene. I find North-Americans a lot more geocentric for lack of a better term. I had a random conversation with a florist from Britain about the entire Benn, Eubank, Watson and Collins era.
