Here is another one.
Maybe King knew Tyson was quilty and the tight so-and-so knew the money spent on an expensive lawyer would be expensive and wasteful.

King did not even pay for the lawyer.

I remember Tyson had to cash a bond that Cus put in place when Mike was a teenager. Tyson acknowledged that only Cus really cared about Mike's future wellbeing.

Doesn't change why King would not help Tyson.
