Mosley: Canelo vs. Golovkin is an even fight

Interesting. All speculation regarding Canelo revolves around size. If there's not a marked size advantage, Canelo's just another fighter. Some interesting tidbits we all know, such as Canelo walking around at close to 180 pounds. We all know this. Which is why the weight at which Canelo and GGG would fight is such a big deal. GGG hasn't budged from 160, nor should he. As the author states... at that weight it would be one-sided, with Canelo on the wrong end. But Canelo and his team will always seek to use weight as the X-factor. It's what they do. Mosley himself fought Canelo at a distinct size disadvantage (to say nothing of his being over-the-hill). One has to think hard to find fighters Canelo has fought at an even size condition. Forget weigh-ins. They've been made a sham of.... by the 30-pound rehydration habits of guys like Canelo. The author suggests that Golden Boy may try and wait out until GGG gets older. Good strategy, except maybe hopefully the public won't buy into that crap and force the issue.

It's really too bad we can't get fighters fighting at the same size anymore.... and more and more fighters (well..... maybe just a handful) are depending on the 20-30 pound advantage to offset their lack of skill. Other than heavyweight, I'd much rather see two evenly-sized guys going at it, instead of a smaller guy trying to survive against a much bigger guy.
