The reason people went on about the Lacy fight so much was that Lacy and the US media hyped him so much and gave "NO" credit to Joe. I saw an interview with LAcy here before the fight and how he said he didn't care where the fight was because he was just gonna take the belt and Joe couldn't do anything about it, how Joe was just a slapper, how Joe was scared to fight him. This was despite him not really having done anything. Then the fight happens and the rest is history.
On a side note, while I agree that nationality and color have nothing to do with boxing, if I was a world champ, I would never fight in Germany. Not because I hate german fighters, just their judges and refs.
CC sanj, Calzaghe is the one with a few belts around his waist, so it doesn't make sense for him to go to the states for a fight at the moment, especially when the other two straps of the big 4 in the division are also in Europe. It's up to the challenger to come and beat him, not for him to put his neck on the line....unless there is massive $$$$$ in it for him.
