My five and seven year old grandsons want to be YouTubers as a job. Fucking hell man. I must have shot 250+ bands before I got to interview who I wanted and spent years mentoring young artists before getting commissioned by the arts Council. Short cut culture is what it is and I do not envy that kind of fame its about the work for me not some gurning vox pop drive for more likes.

That is why 'I wouldn't even rape you' is not satire and dog videos are not the same as fellow jock Boyle mastering the use of the English l as language as a medium as evidenced in his brilliant columns.

I don't agree with censorship which is why I have workefmd for those who have defended these guys but I reserve the right to call a spade a spade that is what free speech means.

It is also why I laughed when Al offered me an apprenticship not because I think I am too good to work in a supermarket or labour on a site, I have done both. Yet when you want to forge your own path and put in the thousands of hours needed to expand your skill set and cv as a freelancer, so you can make a living not having to do such menial boring crap, it gets scorned as though anyone not fitting into a box must be a bullshitter.

Hmmm.. it comes across a bit bitter or jealous (like the journos hunting down Robinson for cringe-worthily claiming he's a journalist) when you claim your own personal work/effort/life choices are more worthy than someone else, with some other interest, having success, or not, in some other field.

How is that much different to AL regarding anyone without a "proper" job and bank full of filthy lucre is a "peasant?"

Or Miles calling 15 million people a lowlife chav for enjoying the X-factor and failing to fall in love with Brett Anderson?

One man's medicine is another man’s poison.

Anyone who believes they will definitely succeed in life as long as they keep "working" is a silly fool. Nobody is special. Nobody "deserves" a fucking thing.
I don't think they are low life chavs for enjoying that, but I do think most people have pretty terrible taste, especially when they are young. For me, I am a bit snobbish in that I despise soaps, celebrity, and things of that nature. I simply do not see the point. That is a subjective statement of course. However, I think once people get beyond 30 or what have you many do start to catch up as people do grow and crave more.

I am not sure what your last point is about and assume it is something Beanz has said, but I think anybody can do well provided they keep working. If it is something like You Tube or stand up then you might get nowhere. But if you are going to earn a wage and bank regularly nobody has an excuse to not 'succeed', at least by my definition, which is to have a home, some food, and the occasional holiday. I agree that nobody deserves anything.
