The "triumph" was beating the Empire of Japan after having our Navy decimated at Pearl Harbor AND not having to invade Honshu and Hokkaido islands as that would have cost a great many more lives than perished due to the bombs. Japan isn't going to force the US military to leave because the US military paid great cost for those bases and won a war over Japan which they shouldn't forget anytime soon.
