Are you sure that stuff was real absinthe and not just the legal alternative? I heard somewhere (I'm far from an expert) that the true formula for absinthe has been lost to history and what they're selling now is just an alcohol concoction that may or may not taste anything like the real deal of centuries past. I read that our best hope was some guy trying to reverse engineer some old bottles.
