I think he was motivated for Ray but not like he was for Hearns. Hearns really brought out his last great fight and effort. He was pumped up because of Hearns attitude and cockiness before the fight and he had been active to that point. The Mugabi fight I think surprised Hagler. I am not sure he expected that hard a fight. He had not been active to that point, and after beating Hearns he mentioned retiring since he could not get much more of a high than the Hearns fight.
