I've got two compatriots fighting in that card: Berlanga and Matias.
I haven't kept up with Berlanga, other than his ill-fated fight against Canelo, which they tried to push as a legitimate PR-Mexico rivalry contest. I always maintained that it was Canelo as usual looking for the easy payday, since Berlanga is nowhere near his league. Still... Edgar did his best and actually didn't embarrass himself. I think they did Berlanga a disservice with all the hype surrounding his 1-round knockout streak at the beginning of his career. He became full of himself... and unfortunately it appears to continue being the case. I'm not a fan of Berlanga's overly inflated sense of self. Let's see how this fight plays out.
Matias is another story. I was fortunately able to watch his last fight live here on the island. I've always been a big fan, although fully aware of his defensive shortcomings. He had his own streak going at one time. One in which several opponents in a row called it quits in the ring. Then he suffered his first loss. I suspect he's the underdog in this upcoming fight against Puello... but I'll be rooting for him. I'm still of the opinion that is given the chance, he takes Richardson Hitchins apart. Which I believe is a big reason Hitchins has apparently been reluctant to face him. Let's also see how THIS fight plays out.
