Naoya Inoue vs Murodjon Akhmadalie
Coming a day after Canelo Alvarez takes on Terence Crawford, the No.2 ranked pound-for-pound fighter takes on 14-1 Uzbekistani Akhmadaliev.
The bout will be the prolific Inoue’s third of four in 2025, having stopped Ramon Cardenas in eight rounds in May, and Kim Ye-joon in four rounds in January.
Akhmadaliev’s only career defeat came against Marlon Tapales via a split decision in 2023, but outside of that ‘MJ’ is a danger, with 11 knockouts to boast.
Up until the Tapales loss, Akhmadaliev had defended his WBA and IBF junior featherweight titles three times with wins over Ryosuke Iwasa, Jose Velasquez and Ronny Rios.
He’s also firmly put that one defeat behind him, going 3-0 since with his opponents lasting no more than eight rounds.
This 12 round WBA Super World Super Bantamweight Championship fight takes place on September 14.
It will be held in Inoue’s home country of Japan, specifically the newly built Aichi International Arena in Nagoya.
Ring walks for the main event in Japan are scheduled for 1pm UK time, with undercard action starting as early as 8am.
