Because it's not like he completely abandoned his defensive style at all.
A lot of people question his ability to take a punch but I truly truly believe he has a solid chin on him.
I mean he was questionably "rocked" by like what... two or three shots in his entire career? I believe he could take 'em. So standing and trading when the situation is right is a great advantage for him.
Also, it's not like he stands and throws and takes shots recklessly.
His defensive instincts are far beyond anyone elses.
So you take what he already had, and throw in a little more offensive onslaught. You got quite a fuggin' package.

Like you said, his new style allows him to put pressure on guys who otherwised may have bulled him over early in his career.
I love seeing the confidence in his stride nowadays.
New Floyd, baby.
I've only heard, and seen him stunned once and thats against Corley... I agree he is impressive now, and fun to watch. His combinations have lots of power behind them he doesn't throw 10 punches combinations instead he throws smaller combinations with more power, and he goes to the body in his combinations. His switch reflexes are amazing still and its virtually impossible to hit him with a jab or any punch for that matter. He's like James Toney with Roy Jones Jr.'s reflexes + speed.
