Bottom line is that Cotto is a Welterweight. Even though his prior resume has all been at 140 it was to his detriment and he never showed how excellent he really was due to the tightness at the weight.
I'm an un-apologetic Hatton fan so take this all with a grain of salt. Rick would still have all the advantages at 140. Cotto just can't keep up his pace, is physically weaker and has a suspect chin. Conversely, Hatton leaves his most important advantages at 140 and would very likely get run over by Cotto at 147 (believe me, it's hard for me to admit that)
After Miguel's performance last night I move him right to the top of the 147 division. He's cleaner and crisper than Margartio (who's wide attacks would have spelled his demise had not Clottey broken his hand Saturday). I see him breaking Mayweather up over time as well at this weight.
Cotto put on 7 pounds and got quicker, more powerful, gained endurance and put it all together. No one takes him down at 147 for the next 5 years.
