It seems that most here have a pretty low opinion of Jermain Taylor. I have to wonder if a lot of it has to do with resentment over him dethroning BHop. But, if you think about it, dismissing his talents actually does disservice to BHop.

I'm sure not KOing Ouma didn't help him...

I wanted BHop to win in the worst way both times, but I have to be honest and say that I think Bernard started too late in both fights to get the win. It was more than that, however. Even after BHop started to pour it on JT found a way to win a round here and there.

Then JT took on one of the toughest opponents he could've. I thought Winky won, but it was close and I definitely don't think Winky was robbed. Plus JT's, statement about fighting the whole 12 was very apropos.

Then the Ouma fight and JT didn't get his KO. It wasn't for lack of tryin though. Some of those uppercuts looked like they would've stopped most opponents. He did totally control the fight, however, and did not allow Ouma to fight his fight or get any sort of momentum going.

My point is that while many of the criticisms about him are not unfounded, he does find a way to win, or in the case of vs Winky, hold on to his title. To my mind, the asset that he has relied on against elite competition is his jab.

I actually think that If he had relaxed and used his stiff jab against Ouma more, he probably would've been able to set him up for a late round TKO.

Therefore, even though Miranda has that "big eraser" as Teddy Atlas calls it; I just think in all likelihood, JT would control him with the jab and use it to set up right hands of his own to win.
