Yeh i hear ya.. Cotto is underrated when it comes to the subtleties in what he offers such as speed, footwork and movement etc..
I personally cant see floyd bieng stopped..Maybe ever?..If there is anyone to do it..I would say it would be oscar or sugar shane... More of an maybe/if for shane..Cos im not certain that shane would beat floyd.
While nobody credits cotto's speed and accuracy its much like alot of the fighters out there that get little credit..
they're not amazing at any one thing.. Just all round solid fighters..
I cant say i can think of anyone who really tested miguel to make him cut off the ring and give him slight trouble..
Quintana is good..But yet i still feel although it was a wicked victory..
Im still giving him prospects credit.. Like joe calzaghie vs lacy..Yeh lacy was the champ and was a big name for the rec...I dont believe either fighter has come into theyr own yet, or quite hit theyr primes..
Both will be back i presume..
The only other test i can think of is the early rounds against magic man malignaggi..
Miguel cuts of the ring ok..Not text book.. But he did lay alot of traps.. He knew that paulie was moving side to side and when he say banged paulie with a right hook to the body..Paulie moves away to his left and miguel would throw a left hook to catch him before he was out of range..He gets little credit for bieng a smart fighter..
But is smarter then he is credited for..
As for floyd..Floyd can certainly move..Certainly hard to read.. And if he is one the ropes you gotta be smart..
Theres floyd on the ropes against sayy..Phillip Ndou..Ndou throws constant left right hooks to body and head but that is all..It smothers but floyds defence is far to great to penetrate with constant, yet visible shots..
Or theres Floyd vs Jlc..Jlc brought the right to the ropes scored his points and wasted very few shots..mixed up the attack and floyd couldnt defend in the same way.. He could just move back..And then had to force himself to start his offense again..
Personally..I dont know if cotto beats floyd or not as he has shown skill in the right area's but not been used against the right people....
So maybe miguel has some big fights this year..
Maybe floyd doesnt retire and maybe they sign the fight..
And perhaps by then its clearer to see what the odds are
