He might not have to stay on the outside as much as he just has to give Floyd different looks and not let Floyd get in any sort of rythym. However, I don't think the inside is the key to win the fight for Oscar because, well Floyd is the faster guy with the shorter punches and he can get out of there just as fast as the other guy came in. It will turn into a bull chasing a matador if he tries to keep the fight on the inside.
I think Oscar should stay on the outside for the most part and move side to side a lot and mix in his straight punches. And that's where I think the timing comes in because Floyd has to time the straight right behind the jab/left hook in order to win imo. Floyd more often then not makes the first punch miss but even if DLH misses with the lead, he has to follow it up. I think the straight right has the best chance of landing because it's a lot harder to slip a straight punch when it comes after something. And if opponents have been able to hit Floyd with anything, it's been the straight punches in the middle of a flurry. But you have to be able to time that right and I think that's what Atlas meant more then anything when he talked about timing.
He could have been talking about timing Floyd as he moves inside but Floyd is so good in transition I wouldn't think De La Hoya would have any sort of consistent success doing that.
Intriguing fight. Can't wait.
