I have been following this thread for awhile now...I know nothing about you, your boxingability, skill level, record, nothing. My question would be, and, really, its none of my business (but we are on this forum to discuss things), but what has he offered you? For instance, you are without a trainer, so has there been talk of finding you one---before you get to the ring for your first fight? There are lots of guys that "manage" fighters and take their percentage for keeping the guy busy in fights in which he is overmarched, be it due to skill, experience, short notice , whatever. All to often in the history of the game a fighter is alone; his rep in negotiations over money and so on is working for himselfand not the boxer.
That said, in this day and age if you aren't (or weren't) an amateur star you'll tend to get lumped into the "food" category. Do you know anybody within the boxing people in the area you'll be fighting in and around that knows the sport, the boxers, and that you can trust? Maybe they can influnce the manager as he tries toget you fights, get him to put you in favorably instead of to get beat. Or, at least, he could advise you on whether or not to take a match.
The sport is all about dreams and taking a shot, and I wish you all the best. Get yourself a trainer that teaches boxing- not some towel carrier-and get back to work and put yourself in a place that you can succeed from, and find somebody you can trust.
