An elbow injury has kayoed IBF light heavyweight champion Clinton Woods' June 23 title defense against Julio Gonzales on the undercard of Hatton-Castillo in Las Vegas. According to the Sun tabloid, Woods must have surgery to free a trapped nerve in his elbow. "I'm gutted," he told the Sun. "The operation couldn't be avoided and there's no way I'd be fit for June 23."

I'm disappointed with this one, cause it would have been a great appetiser for the main event. It also looks that once he comes back he'll probably have to go straight in to a fight with his new mandatory, Marco Huck. I'd prefer him to get a tune-up fight, cause he'll have been out for quite a while by then. Roll on an Autumn return for Woods though.... he needs a bit of luck and is one of the nicest blokes in boxing.
