No they wasnt . Hatton had just become british champion and was selling between 5000 - 9000 tickets a fight. Witter had just fought steve conway in front of about 36 people!

Later that year In october 2000 hatton was fighting freddie pendleton for the WBU world title.

witter fought david kirk for no title - kirks record at the time was 9-29-2

Witter never has been on a par with hatton and never will be.
