Former WBO title challenger Mger Mkrtchian (23-2, 17 KOs) seized the European super middleweight crown of previously unbeaten Jackson Chanet (26-1, 15 KOs) with an upset eleventh round knockout Friday night at the Parc des Expositions de Reims in Reims, France. What was a very tough fight ended with Chanet finally sinking to the canvas after a vicious exchange. He was counted out and stayed on the canvas for some anxious moments before regaining his senses. Chanet entered the bout rated #1 by the WBA. He was the mandatory challenger for world champion Mikkel Kessler.
