Toney being weight drained is a poor excuse. Toney battled weight problems his entire career, yet he never clearly lost a fight for more than a decade after he was dominated by Jones.
Toney lost his very next fight to Montell Griffin (A loss is a loss). RJJ fought Ruiz (a legitamate HW with a 30+ lb advantage) right after he went 1-1-1 with Holyfield. And albeit a DQ win against Kirk Johnson, it was a win.

IMO there's not a right or wrong answer to this question. It just depends on personal opinion of what impressed u more.
