Force is the mass of the shot (ie the 'strength' of it) times the velocity, so simply building more muscle and delivering more force would not necessarily equate to an increase in power if any speed was sacrificed.

Big bulgy muscles often dimish the force of a punch if speed is lost.
I guess the laws of physics must have changed since I did my "O" levels. Back then force and momentum were defined as follows:

Force = mass x acceleration
Momentum = mass x velocity

Mind you, I am going back to the 80s, so maybe Newton's no longer in vogue.
