Daniel Jimenez, 132, won a split decision over Vincente Escobedo, 132, at Arco Arena, Sacramento, California in a battle of prospects. Escobedo, 9-1-0, 9KO, was a touted Olympian who showed good ring generalship and patience in dealing with the aggressive Jimenez, 14-1-1, 8 KO, working behind a sharp jab and hurting Jimenez at times. Jimenez threw a lot of punches and scored a flash knockdown in the 8th round with a left hand, but Escobedo was up quickly and both fighters finished strong. Scores were 77-74, 77-74, and 75-76.

Not trying to kick a guy when he's down but he was so hyped up and when I saw him last time on ESPN2 I was absolutely underwhelmed so I'm not totally shocked by this. Still, its just a loss, its to a guy with a good record and he can come back, but I do think he was hyped up too much as the next ODLH
