I gotta disagree Old George was pretty damn close to the ferocious puncher he was in his younger days, his cross armed defense he developed from Archie Moore was a huge bullet in his gun, the younger George had one of the worst defenses for such a celebrated champion. Young George was wide open and would get tattooed coming in and would get broken down mentally by the smarter more determined older George. And after 3 rounds when he couldn't KO the old man he would start getting the self doubt that someone could absorb his punches and punishment, and then counter with bludgeoning shots I think old George would take the piss out of him mentally and then go on to doing it physically
I think your underrating the young Foreman he never got self doubt only after just 3 rounds i do agree the older version was smarter and had better defense but old Foreman was too slow young one would just swarm him and would be alot quicker than the old one i know Foreman had amazing chin when he got older but he wouldn't take the punches of a younger Foreman no way but i maybe wrong but i just think the younger one would win.
