Yes, the southpaw stance always factors in to some extent.

Calzaghe has benefited from being left handed his entire career. The sheer awkwardness of the southpaw style, Joe's strength and agility, alongside his superb jab are all factors in what have made him the champion he is today. The orthodox fighter naturally prefers to move to the right in order to set up his right hand, however against a southpaw of Joe's expierience and handspeed, this will act as a trigger for joe's favoured left hand to go to the head.

The counteraction for this is to alter the strategy and the orthodox fighter will move to the left, Again Calzaghe will be happy with this as it will play to his jab. And if Joe can get Kessler on the end of the jab he'll stay there all night.

Thats why i feel Kessler is best served moving straight forward, with straight punches, he better have his fitness up if he wants to pill this off, he's going to have to throw all night!
