Hello everyone, I want thank you all for the support that you have shown through out the past training camp. I have to admit that I wasn’t as prepared for Ben Tackie as I was for Gatti, but I give myself credit because I won convincibly.

I suffered an in jury in my left hand, making my victory all that sweeter. In the second round, with a minute to go, I hit him with a left-uppercut/straight-right/left-uppercut combination where I broke the knuckle of the index finger from the left hand.

Even though pain ran up my arm when I hit it, I had to keep my game plan. The fight continued to be pretty steady for the first half of the fight. The second half Tackie upped the pressure allowing me to execute some of the things that we had worked in the gym like dodge, back up, block, counter-attack, and slip punches. I used my legs and lateral movement to keep him off while at the same time making pay when he missed. At the end I believe I won 8 rounds without doubt and was happy that I had gone the distance of 10 rounds for the first time without even feeling too exhausted.

Making the weight wasn’t hard at all. I had to do the obvious diet but nothing extreme. I don’t know why the fight was at 148 lbs, because that meant using 10oz gloves. I requested to have the weight changed to 147lbs in hopes of using smaller gloves, but request was turned down. After that we didn’t worry about anything but getting conditioning and working on defense. I sparred against Freddy Hernandez, Octavio Narvaez, Vardan Gasparyan and Juan Valenzuela, and each one brought something that helped me for the fight.

Now apparently if Chavez Jr. is successful against Ray Sanchez III this coming December, on March 29 him and I will trade leather here in the Los Angeles area. The Doctor that operated on my hand is the same doctor that operated on Oscar de la Hoya a few years back, Dr. Zimmel. He said that I should be healed by my next fight. I’m going to try and follow my therapy, take a few acting courses, and take advantage of my LA Fitness membership to not gain too much weight. In the mean time take a look at Hy3rid’s progress and support it like you support me. Take care…
