Hey man welcome to the forum...
Yes i would advise boxing, but to try and maximise your benefits try do a bit of roadwork (jogging) and perhaps cycling.

Boxing can be very frustrating at the beginnning when you are unfit as you feel sometimes your just not able, but stick to it and like i said do some walking and running and i swear to you you'll notice effects fast.
