As much as I hoped Hatton would fight Witter, I think the best way for him to pick up the pieces quickly would be to fight a guy like Malignaggi.

Coming off a KO loss and the first loss of his career, it would not be a good idea for him to get in the ring with a big puncher like Witter right away.

Paulie, on the other hand, is a light punching slick boxer than can challenge Ricky and even has a good chance to beat him. So it wouldn't be a fight that people can say is a walkover. Also, it would help Rickys confidence if he can show good boxing against a pure boxer like Paulie.

Sometime down the line if he keeps winning though, he has to fight Witter.
