Ouma's comments quoting a recent David Haye article where he said that neither him and Enzo had good chins got me thinking.

What exactly is it that makes one fighter's chin better than another?

Is it conditioning?

Is it heart and mental toughness?

Is it the actual physical bone structure of the jaw line?

Is it the size of a fighter's neck?

I can see how conditioning and heart play a big part in a fighter getting up and carrying on when he takes a beating rather than someone who lies down at the first sign of adversity but what about one punch knockouts?

Certainly Audley Harrison, Vic Darchinyan, Jeremy Williams and Ricky Hatton for example didn't stay down through a lack of conditioning or lack of heart, they were simply knocked out and couldn't get up.

So what is it that makes Librado Andrade for example to take punch after punch to the jaw whilst another fighter might get knocked unconcious by the same blow?

I remember Joe Rogan talking about Mirko Cro Cop once and commenting on how he had a very delicate chin bone structure which could contribute to why he's been knocked out cold a few times.

Anyone think there is something in this and could you tell who is likely to have a great chin by looking at them?
