Hatton is only going to get worse for wear and tear over the next few years imo. Secondly, Witter or Malignaggi are not about to become household names if we just sit back and let the 140lb division take course.. Who in the hell are they going to beat in order to garner much more bargaining power than they have now? Maybe they could fight each other in a semi high profile bout, but imo that was turn into a very dull fight which certainly wouldn't do anything to drum up demand for a Hatton fight. As has been said, 140 is not a hot division right now. Maybe Hatton will benefit from a gimme fight and then find the confidence to accept a challenge.. But I don't see why beating Lazcano should change how he feels about fighting Witter, which is really the only fight worth a damn for him right now.
Good post and i agree to an extent. But i genuinely believe the fight will happen. It was obvious he wasn't going to fight him after a KO loss. I know there aren't many hot fighters at 140 now so thats why i get the feeling Paulie and Witter are going to be commercialised into stars....maybe not on the level of Hatton, but stars none the less. I know it's bullshit, but it's going to happen. The fights should be made now but they won't be.
