No ref has ever called Wlad or Vitali out on swatting down on the guard....had Sultan not had his arm extended then MAYBE it would have been a foul had he continually done it but there would have been no need to do that continually.

Wlad has used that strategy of swatting down the guard vs: Byrd X 2, Mercer, Brewster, Shufford, well basically every fight I have seen of his he has used it in some form or another. In fact his best way to land the 1-2 is jab, swat the guard, and throw the right cross.....find the rule that says it's illegal. Vitali used it ALL THE TIME

Wladimir is 31 going on 32 he has a good 4-5 years left in the sport if he wants to go that long....if he's fighting 3-4 times a year that's up to 20 more victories he could have....he could have 70 wins at the end of his career (it'll probably be more along the lines of 60-65 or so). He's fighting and BEATING the best of this heavyweight division. You cannot punish Wlad for having a bad crop of fighters to fight against...Joe Louis, Rocky Marciano, Mike Tyson....those guys ruled bad heavyweight divisions and their stock doesn't slip because of it. If Wladimir DOMINATES this division then yeah he deserves some credit for it....I think he can be just as good as Lennox Lewis maybe a little better (but without the Holyfield's and Tyson's on his resume). The key is Wladimir's legacy isn't written in stone yet....he could lose his next fight, sure that would mean he's not one of the best all-time...RIGHT NOW is Wladimir's prime and he is just starting to write his legacy in the ring, so give him some time

Wladimir's jab is one of the best all time...I don't think anyone has the right to deny this. Larry Holmes' jab was great, Sonny Liston's was great, and Wladimir's jab is AT LEAST on par with those guys'
