Well £500 is no longer cheap for a 37 inch, I mean you can buy crappy brand names like Teco and Hannspree 37 in for about £350.
But given the choice I'd rather spend a bit extra and buy a decent brand name. It's my understanding that virtually every single lcd screen is actually a Samsung anyway so you'll basically be getting a Samsung screen no matter what you buy.

Philips 37PFL5522D 37in LCD TV - TrustedReviews
That's a Phillips 37 in for £550 that got middling reviews.
Check out places like Aria.co.uk they are great value for virtually everything, don't be afraid to buy online.
And I know a lot of people won't recommend it but I've bought virtually all my most expensive purchases via eBay and never had any problem.
I got a Dell 24 inch widescreen monitor brand new with a 4 year 24 hour swap replacement warranty £150 cheaper than anywhere else from someone on eBay. Even better it arrived only 18 hours or so after ordering!
I got a £1100 cycle ergometer for £600 and an absolute beast of a computer last year a full £200 cheaper than I could have got it even had I bought all the bits and built it myself.
I always find eBay great for bargains, you just really have to research who you are getting it from.
