It's the fact that Khan has been in the spotlight and on terrestrial TV from his very first fight, it appears he isn't making any progress when in fact he is. If he started out like any other boxer, the Hatton's and Calzaghe's included he would have been fighting on the undercards of other bouts and non televised events, building his record up. The fact we've had to watch him batter these no hopers is great for the likes of my mum to see, and praise him for being so gifted, but I also understand why people get annoyed by it, especially by claiming he's so good after destroying some bums.
Anyway I don't think he's being overly protected, but with all his ambition and talk it would be good to see him fight some serious contenders. Frank Warren is the match maker, and in Khan he see's a very nice retirement package to swindle out of him, so he won't risk Khan for a good while yet, since the "0" is such an important factor and all.
The only way we'll see Khan up against the very best anytime soon is if he ditches Warren in pursuit of his goals and ambitions.
When was it he wanted to be a world champion by to beat Naz's record? Hasn't he supassed that age now in which Naz won his title? I dunno, but if not he surely aint got long left to do it!
