Its his presence and his range that is a great form of defence for Froch. His footwork is underrated too, he knows when hes in touble he can get out of there quick. The range will be a lot harder for Taylor than he expects. If he gets problems off two small lightmiddleweights, I am expecting many problems from a natural 168 fighter who is greatly up for the fight!
It hasn't ever been a problem. Which hurts Froch's chances even moreso because he'll have no idea how to deal with it when he gets in with Taylor and it's a HUGE one. Your basically saying the less experienced fighter isn't at a disadvantage because noone's ever hurt him before, or made him change his game plan. Well duh, that's the point. Taylor has been in with a magnitude of world class talent, and many different styles. He's been hit hard, and lost rounds. He's had to adjust and learn in the ring in basically every big fight he's been in. Froch has never met a single opponent he couldn't just plow over with looping telegraphed shots. Never had to even think about using any real ring craft. I see giving him a punchers chance against Taylor, but nothing more. It's obvious Taylor is the better fighter.
But you cold say exactly the same thing for Froch that when he fights Taylor he can adapt to his style. Carl has made it clearly evident that he belongs with the world fighters and this is the step up he needs. Hes not taking any easy routes he is going straight for the best fighters and you will see hes ready for this step up IMO. I do thing skill wise Taylor is better and has more expereince. But this is 168 were the power is a lot more of a factor than merely just speed. Froch is powerful, more powerful than Taylor. Taylor shows when the going gets tough hes in for it. Carl knows how to apply decent pressure and I can really see Taylor getting tierd down the stretch like he has done in a lot of his fights recently. Froch aint no winky wright or Kasim ouma, if he sees a knock he isnt going to stop. If taylor can handle his pressure he has a good chance of winning, but hes going to get in trouble at least once in the fight, and I think that will be enough for Froch to finish him off.
The thing is you are just speculating as to how good Froch is, or whether he'll have the ability to adapt, as well as how hard he hits. We KNOW Taylor is a world class fighter. Big difference.
