I agree about Ozzie Smith. Though I think the best defensive play I've ever seen was of all people, Tsuyoshi Shinjo in San Francisco the year we had him. Actually it wasn't in San Francisco it was in Montreal. And Shinjo made the most ridiculous play I've ever seen, there was a runner on 1st I believe with a head start and the ball got hit into the alleyway and rolled all the way to the wall for what looked like an easy score, EASY. Shinjo went SPRINTING over to the ball rolling on the ground and in a single motion, he scooped the ball off the ground and threw it back to the diamond off his backfoot with his momentum taking him away. The ball went over the cutoff man's head and got to Benito Santiago at home plate to the first base side and in one motion he caught the ball on the backhand and then dove back for home plate and the runner was gone. It was CRAZY.
